How to Claim Your Clinic on Google Maps and Add Your SeriousMD Booking Link

Get found on Google Maps and let patients tap Book online to reach your SeriousMD profile.

Written by Chelsea

Patients search for doctors on Google Maps every day. If your clinic is listed and claimed there, patients can find you, see your hours, and tap Book online to go straight to your SeriousMD profile. It's free, and you only set it up once.

Before you start

  • Your SeriousMD profile is public: Allow Public View is turned on in your profile settings.

  • Your clinic schedule and available time slots are set up, so patients can book.

  • You have your profile link ready. It looks like https://seriousmd.com/doc/yourname.

  • You have a clinic phone number you can answer during clinic hours. Google may call it to verify you.

Step 1: Find or add your clinic on Google

  1. Go to business.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

  2. Search for your clinic. If it's already on Google Maps, click Own this business? to claim it.

  3. If it isn't on Google yet, click Add your business.

Step 2: Enter your clinic details

  • Business name: Dr. [Your Full Name], [Credentials]. Example: Dr. Maria Santos, MD, FPCP.

  • Primary category: your specialty, as specific as possible (for example "Pediatrician" or "Cardiologist", not just "Doctor"). Use "General Practitioner" only for general or family practice.

  • Secondary categories (optional): "Medical clinic", or a related specialty.

  • Address: exactly as it appears on your clinic signage. If you're inside a hospital, include the building, floor and room number.

  • Phone: your clinic's main number.

  • Website: your SeriousMD profile link.

  • Hours: match your SeriousMD clinic schedule, including lunch breaks.

Step 3: Verify with Google

Google needs to confirm the clinic is yours. Depending on your listing, it will offer one of these:

  • Phone or SMS: Google sends a code to your clinic number. Enter it to finish.

  • Email: a code sent to your business email.

  • Video: a short recording showing your clinic signage and location.

  • Postcard: a code mailed to your clinic address. This takes the longest.

Until verification is done, your changes may not show on Google Maps.

Step 4: Add your SeriousMD booking link

  1. In your Business Profile, open Edit profile, then look for Appointment links (sometimes under Bookings).

  2. Paste your SeriousMD profile link.

  3. Save.

The Book online button can take 24 to 48 hours to appear.

Step 5: Complete your profile

  • A clear professional photo of yourself.

  • Photos of your clinic: the entrance or building, and the waiting area.

  • A short description: your specialty, where you practice, and that online booking is available.

  • Your main services, for example consultations, check-ups, or procedures you do.

Step 6: Test it

  1. Search for your name or clinic on Google Maps.

  2. Tap Book online and check that it opens your SeriousMD profile.

If something doesn't work

The Book online button isn't showing. Wait 48 hours. Check that your profile is verified, your SeriousMD profile is public, and the link has no extra spaces.

Your clinic appears twice on Google Maps. Claim the correct listing, then use Suggest an edit on the duplicate to report it. Removal can take a few weeks.

Someone else already manages the listing. Google will let you request access from the current owner when you try to claim it.

You have more than one clinic. Create a separate Business Profile for each location. Each one can use your same SeriousMD profile link.

Replying to Google reviews

Thank patients for good reviews, and answer concerns politely. Never mention a patient's condition, treatment or any health details in a public reply, even if they mentioned it first.
